Mountain View was incorporated in 1902 and was named after its view of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mountain View is home to the tech giant Google. Many other companies also are headquartered in Mountain View such Eye Fi, LinkedIn, Loopt, Mozilla Corporation, Synopsys, VeriSign, and the SETI Institute. Other companies such as Microsoft have a significant presence in Mountain View. Currently the population of Mountain View is just over 70,000. Mountain View is also home to the pedestrian friendly Castro Street, where many of the cities restaurants, bars and shops are located.
