In the 1960’s, Burlingame’s population began to expand because of its proximity to San Francisco International Airport. Today, Burlingame’s population is over 28,000. Burlingame is called the “City of Trees” because it has 18,000 public trees. There is a local city ordinance that prevents cutting down trees.
