Brisbane was incorporated in 1961, and is a small city located in northern part of San Mateo County, having a population of fewer than 4,000. Brisbane is sometimes referred to the “City of the Stars” because of its holiday tradition of placing stars on the downhill sides of their residences. Visitors and residents entering the area are treated to a hill of stars at night. The population of Brisbane greatly increases during the daytime as employees flock to industrial parks for work. There is also a Brisbane Baylands project under development which would restore baylands area and bring more business and residential development to the area.
