Accounts Receivable+

A law firm based in San Jose specializing in Family Law and Estate Planning is looking for an A/R Accountant to perform a wide variety of general accounting support tasks and provide clerical and technical accounting work. This position may also include a wide variety of complex administrative duties to assist and support the activities of a group of Attorneys and/or Associates Attorneys.

About the Job

Duties include: All aspects of A/R which includes: Client billing, process edits, administer special billing arrangements, monitor accounts receivables, applying payment, collections, reporting and month end activities. Must be a team player and exhibit strong organization skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with close attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.

  • Proven working experience as accounts payable clerk at a law firm
  • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Proficiency in Timeslips, QuickBooks, MS Office and experience with spreadsheets a plus
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Perform day to day management of all account receivable activities
  • Work with collections department to capture delinquent payments
  • Prepare and maintain various reports including the Accounts Receivable aging report.
  • Send statements to outstanding customers.
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for all client accounts.
  • Maintain A/R records and client files
  • Assist in month end closing
  • Continuously improve receivable processes
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounting Department
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or Accounting or 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or relevant experience at a law firm

Successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of legal documents and processes, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and be able to multi-task. The position requires an individual that is resourceful and can work autonomously, proactively, and demonstrate excellent follow-through for various accounting roles.
