Michael E. Lonich, managing partner of Lonich & Patton, LLP has nearly thirty years of experience as a litigator.  Beginning his career defending a wide range of businesses and individuals, he now draws on those skills as a mediator in Family Law cases.  With the firm's growing family law practice, Mike has found success in family law mediation.  After many years as an advocate in litigation matters, he enjoys the collaborative effort and experience he brings to the table as a mediator in cases including divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, property rights and really any area of family law as long as the participants are able to come together and work toward a solution in a collaborative and positive environment.  Mike knows all too well the financial and emotional costs of taking it to court and is able to offer a far less expensive alternative mediation.  Whether represented by an attorney or not, parties are welcome to explore this alternative, a collaborative and results oriented way to resolve family law matters in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional advocate based litigation; with that said, Mike recognizes not all cases are suitable for mediation.  In such cases, the balance of the attorneys at Lonich & Patton can assist you with your family law needs.

Born in San Rafael, California in 1954, Mike grew up in the Santa Clara Valley having moved here with his family in the early sixties as the Valley grew.  Although leaving the Valley for college and law school Mike returned home to marry and raise a family.  Along with his wife Lisa, Mike is raising three boys, Andrew, Ryan and Michael; together with the family hound, Crusader, they live in Saratoga where they are active in the community and their parish at Sacred Heart.   Mike graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981.

Mr. Lonich is a member of the State Bar of California, the Association of Defense Counsel, Santa Clara Bar Association, serving on the temporary judge and arbitrator panels of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Mr. Lonich is admitted to practice before all California courts, including the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California.
